1100 aluminum sheet is a type of 1000 series aluminum. You can also call it pure aluminum. The strength of aluminium 1100 plate is lower than 3000 series aluminum alloy. But its formability and weldability are excellent. It is a non-heat treatable aluminium. Its aluminium content is about 99.00%. Except for the 1050 and 1060 aluminium. Aluminium 1100 is popular as well.
Properties
1100 aluminum is a soft, low-strength alloy that has excellent corrosion resistance and good formability and weldability. It is commonly used in the construction of chemical storage tanks, pressure vessels, and other products that require a high degree of durability and corrosion resistance. Some of the key properties of 1100 aluminum sheet include:
- High aluminum content: 1100 aluminum contains a minimum of 99.00% aluminum, with no other metallic elements.
- Good formability: 1100 aluminum is soft and ductile, which makes it easy to form into different shapes.
- Excellent corrosion resistance: 1100 aluminum has a high resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for use in a variety of environments.
- Good weldability: 1100 aluminum can be easily welded using a variety of welding methods, including gas tungsten arc welding and shielded metal arc welding.
- Non-heat treatable: 1100 aluminum cannot be heat treated to increase its strength, so it is typically used in applications where high strength is not a requirement.
- Low cost: Because of its high aluminum content and lack of other alloying elements, 1100 aluminum is often a cost-effective alternative to other aluminum alloys.
Application
1100 aluminum sheet is commonly used in a variety of applications that require a high degree of corrosion resistance and good formability. Some examples of these applications include:
- Chemical storage tanks: 1100 aluminum is often used in the construction of chemical storage tanks because of its high resistance to corrosion and good formability.
- Pressure vessels: 1100 aluminum is also commonly used in the construction of pressure vessels, such as tanks for storing compressed gases or liquids.
- Roofing and siding: 1100 aluminum is sometimes used for roofing and siding because of its durability and corrosion resistance.
- Gutters and downspouts: 1100 aluminum is also commonly used in the construction of gutters and downspouts because of its resistance to corrosion and its ability to withstand the weight of water.
- Food processing equipment: 1100 aluminum is often used in the construction of food processing equipment, such as counters and sinks, because of its resistance to corrosion and its non-toxic nature.
